Volunteers are an integral part of our success. We wouldn’t be able to do what we do without their help and dedication.
Our volunteers are mainly foodservice and hospitality professionals who help with every aspect of the planning and execution of our events, including venue selection, menu creation, ticketing, entertainment and day-of fundraising activities. Event committee members also help solicit participation, prizing, and sponsorship to ensure that the events are well attended and successful. Committees begin meeting months in advance to cover every detail of planning. Event day volunteers work with the We Care team to make sure we are set up on time, everything runs smoothly, and the event concludes successfully. They often arrive in the early hours of the morning and stay until the last box is packed up at the end of the day.
We Care would like to thank all our volunteers who help in the organization and execution of our events.
See below for a list of our current event committees. If you are interested in joining one or more, please contact us at 905-841-1223 or by email at [email protected].
Awards Committee – The Awards Committee accepts and reviews nominations for the three annual We Care awards. The committee is made up of a panel of past winners and industry peers. Winners are honoured at the annual We Care Dinner & Awards Gala. For more information on these awards please visit our Awards page.
We Care Dinner & Awards Gala – The Gala Committee is responsible for organizing the annual celebration of our achievements for the previous year and recognition of our passionate supporters. This event is attended by hundreds of people from the Foodservice & Hospitality Industry. Our fundraising year culminates with this formal event that includes dinner, dancing, entertainment, and a silent auction.
National Bowling Challenge – The Bowling committees are responsible for planning and executing the annual We Care Bowling Challenges in cities across Canada. Each city has its own committee responsible for organizing the event, recruiting teams, sponsors and prizes, and spreading awareness about We Care. These pledge-driven events are one of our biggest and fastest growing regional events, raising over $225,000 annually. The event has been held in the following cities (with more being added over time):
Calgary
Edmonton
Halifax
Kelowna
Moncton
St. John’s
Toronto
Vancouver
We Care Camp Days – The various Camp Day committees across Canada work to plan and execute We Care Camp Day, an annual visit of our members to an Easter Seals camp. These events are our only non-fundraising event and are meant to showcase firsthand the magic of camp to our current and potential supporters. Companies, individuals, and their families are invited to visit the camp for a guided tour, barbeque, and traditional ‘bear decorating’.
Winterfest – Winterfest provides members, industry professionals, and their families with an exciting day away from the office at a top ski venue in Ontario. This event includes great food and sampling from the Beverage & Alcohol Industry.
We Care Golf & Spa Classic with the LCBO – Through the support of the LCBO, members of the Beverage and Alcohol Industry have played a large role in the planning and execution of this sold out annual event. The committee continuously strives to develop new and exciting opportunities that are inviting to everyone (even non-golfers). The day includes great golf, food, and product from the beer, wine, and spirits industry.
We Care Pro-Am – The We Care Pro-Am takes place at a members-only golf course in Ontario. Participants take advantage of this rare opportunity to entertain clients and guests at one of the most widely-acclaimed and highly-rated private golf clubs in the country, all while playing alongside a CPGA professional. This is the must-not-miss event of the year.
Les Amis de Nous Aidons Golf & Cocktail – Since 1989, the Nous Aidons golf committee has worked hard to execute this event and establish We Care’s reputation and commitment to kids with disabilities in Quebec. All money raised at this event provides funding for Quebec children with disabilities to attend camps through Fondation Papillon.
